According to foreign media reports, on Tuesday, British Columbia, Canada, again rejected the Morrison copper and gold mine environmental permit proposed by PBM mining company on the grounds that mining has potential risks to water quality and the survival of local wild red salmon.
In 2010, PBM applied for the environmental assessment certificate for the first time and planned to build an open-pit copper gold mine about 65 kilometers northeast of Smithers. In 2012, it was rejected by the Ministry of environmental assessment due to Aboriginal concerns about water quality and fish risks. The project covers an area of about 2028 hectares. After completion, the daily raw ore output will reach about 30000 tons.
At present, the construction plan of Morrison copper and gold mine has been stagnant for more than 18 years.
